1. Unit Description / Concept (A Short write-up on the overview of this unit)
A tourist attraction is a place of interest where tourists visit, typically for its inherent or an exhibited natural or cultural value, historical significance, natural or built beauty, offering leisure and amusement.
In this lesson, the top tourist attraction in the Philippines such as Banaue Rice Terraces, Boracay, Chocolate Hills, Donsol, Puerto Princesa Underground River, Puerto Galera, Malapascua Island, Mayon Volcano, San Agustin Church, Manila, and Tubbataha Reef will be introduced to the students.

Warm-up (5 Minutes)

The teacher greets the class and reviews the topic of their last discussion.
T: Good afternoon class!
T: How are you feeling today?
T: That’s good to hear!
T: Last time, we discussed about directions and maps.
T: Today, in order to know if what we are going discuss, I have here a puzzle for you to solve.
T: But how are we going to solve it?
T: As you can see there is an incomplete puzzle here in front.
T: The missing puzzle pieces can be found in this plastic bottle.
T: Now, I am going to play here a song.
Once the song is playing, you have to pass around the bottle.
T: If the song stops, the person who is holding the bottle will pick one puzzle piece, come in front and attach the puzzle piece to its right place.
T: Did you get it?
T: Let’s play the song now.
Presentation (15 minutes)
2. After the puzzle has been completed, the teacher introduces the new lesson. After that, the teacher shows the words in the vocabulary list that they need to master for today.
T: Alright! Let’s all clap our hands for completing the puzzle.
T: In our puzzle, what message can you read?
T: Yes, it’s more fun in the Philippines.
T: So today, we will be discussing things that cannot be found on your books.
T: I am going to show you the beauty and the hidden paradise in the Philippines.
T: Before anything else, let us read first the words in our vocabulary list.
T: As you get to know the Philippines, you will also encounter these words.

3. Teacher plays a video about Philippines. After playing the video, the teacher open a PowerPoint presentation about the top 10 tourist destinations in the Philippines.
T: At this moment, we will watch a video about the Philippines.
T: Did you enjoy the video?
T: I’m glad to hear that.
T: this time, I will be presenting you the top 10 tourist attraction in the Philippines.
T: Take note of our words in the vocabulary list as we will be encountering them as we go on with our discussion.
Practice (15 minutes)
4. After presenting the tourist attractions in the Philippines, the teacher tests the students’ knowledge through a game.
T: Did you enjoy touring some of the tourist attractions in the Philippines with your eyes?
T: Great! Now, I will see if you also learn while I was discussing about it.
T: This class will be divided into 3 groups.
T: Each group will be given these papers and a marker.
T: I will be flashing the pictures of the tourist spots in the Philippines with their incomplete name.
T: What you need to do is to complete the name of the picture being flashed.
T: You will be given 10 seconds to write and you can only start to write if you hear me say the word, “GO!”
T: You have to stop writing and raise your papers when you hear this beeping sound.
T: Do you understand?
T: Let’s now start the game.
Production (10 minutes)
5. The teacher hands out the materials that they will be needing for the group activity. In the activity, the students need to create their own Philippine flag. The teacher flashes a picture of the Philippine flag on the board.
T: This time, you will be doing another activity with the same groups.
T: Each group will be tasked to create their own Philippine Flag.
T: The materials that you will be needing will be provided.
T: After creating you own flag, write anything that you learned, know or love about Philippines.
T: I will give you 10 minutes to finish your work.
T: Is that clear?
Wrap Up (10 minutes)
6. The teacher asks 2 representatives from each group to present their work.
T: Since everyone’s settled now, may I ask the 2 representatives from each group to present their work.
T: Very good. Let’s clap our hands.
The teacher checks on the students’ progress by reviewing their lessons today.
T: Who can tell me the things that they have learned today?
T: That’s right. Thank you for you answer.
T: Now let us read again the words in the vocabulary list.
