A Dreamlike Adventure
Procedures of Teaching
Warm Up
During this time, I greet the students and then check their attendance. After checking the attendance, I will then review them with the topics from our previous meeting. I will ask them various questions. Before presenting the new topic, I will let them play a motivational activity or games such as solving puzzles, pairing of words and pictures, matching sentences to pictures and telling the name of the picture. I try hard from the very beginning in order to catch the students’ attention and make them eager to listen to the discussion.
Presentation
Presentation is divided into two parts- presentation of words in the vocabulary and presentation of new topic.
During the presentation of words in the vocabulary, I will use flash cards to show the words and let them repeat after I read the words. After flashing the words, I will then hang it on a pocket chart. The students will be able to focus on those words as we go on through the discussion by knowing their meaning.
After presenting the words, I will then formally introduce the topic to the students. I used a combination of PowerPoint presentation, videos, pictures and other instructional materials to ensure that the students will be able to learn.
To test the students’ progress, I let them work on an activity either by group or individual. The activities that I have used were spelling contest, fill in the blanks, complete the table and answer the question as fast as they can. I often use music to make the atmosphere more fun.
Production
In this part of the class, the students must either create something that I ask them which is related to our topic or answer a worksheet either by group or individually.
Wrap Up
This indicates that the class is about to end. During this time, I asks the groups to present the work of their members or I ask some students to volunteer to read their works.
After showing their works, I then ask if what they have learned from the discussion. Then I will let them read the words in the vocabulary list again.
I will then applaud them for a job well then and say goodbye to the class.
